● Grew crop plants in the field and greenhouse, harvested and prepared them for distribution.
● Recorded field crop data on excel, rated for desired characteristics.
● Distributed produce to local communities and food banks.
● Worked in laying irrigation piping, drip irrigation.
● Aided in seed and seedling planting both by hand and by tractor.
● Practiced plant breeding with zinnias, sorted and cleaned bean and celtuce seeds.
● Sorted wheat varieties by quality for further breeding.

5 Week Internship: October 2022 - November 2022 (ended due to striking + lack of tasks for interns)
Zerbe Lab, Davis, CA
● Creation and streaking of agar plates.
● Made liquid growth media and agar solution.
● Completed basic plant care and potting.
● Learned general use of centrifuge.
● Practiced sterilization procedures, including autoclaving.
● Injection into tobacco leaves.

Work: October 2021- June 2022
Horwath Biogeochemistry and Nutrient Cycling Lab, Davis, CA
● Collected soil and gas samples in the field, aided in capture device retrieval and placement.
● Titrated solutions for soil analysis under instruction from superior.
● Prepared sampling tubes for soil and gas samples.
● Crushed plant material and soil for use in later experiments.
● Used spectrophotometer and prepared samples for analysis.

Internship: January 2021-June 2021
Horwath Biogeochemistry and Nutrient Cycling Lab, Davis, CA
● Learned proper safety procedures for laboratory work from UC Davis laboratory safety fundamentals
course to better ensure the safety of all involved.
● Practiced preparing soil samples for use in an Elemental Combustion Analyzer to test their carbon content
so as to further the supervisor’s research.
● Became proficient with electronic balance for use in accurately measuring out correct amounts of sample
material for increased result accuracy in further experimentation.
